Looking ahead, if you had to choose what sale to attend

For all of you that have attended both or either, what sale would you attend if you had to choose between the Greencastle Pa or the Lagrange Indiana Chupps sale? They both fall on the same weekend in May. I have family I can visit in Indiana, I live in Pa. So, if you have been to both let me...

Do any of these mares look PREGO to you?????

Your Black and White girl looks like she may be in foal. Princess I am not so sure about. If she is a maiden mare it is possible that she is in foal but wont show until closer to her foal date (maybe 7.5-8 months). Sorry I can't be any more help. Carolyn

    Leather vs. Synthetic Harness

For a well trained cart horse, synthetic is great, easy to keep clean. That is the nice beta style synthetic, not the plastic looking type. If it is for a very green horse I would only use leather, it gives and and doesn't cut like some synthetics if the horse should bolt.

    Impaction?

Another cause of an imapction that may or may not have been listed is worms. I just went through a six month ordeal with a haflinger. Eventhough I worm all my horses on a regular schedule, give them vet care, shots, the whole nine yards, this horse had worms. I owned her just shy of 6 months...

    Colic

I just had my large horse colic on Friday. The vet said that everytime the temp dips down at night and there is a full moon, they can gaurantee at least 5 or 6 colic patients come morning. The good news is the horse is okay now. The vet said between the weather change and them forgetting...

Hopping mad at the transporters!! AGAIN?

I have had great luck with Moore Family Equine Express. The trailer is semi- openm so this time of year the horses need a blanket or two. They are great, fast, reasonable, great with the animals, and you can call them as many times as you would like while they are in route. They will let you...

I haven't done this before so...

He is well proportioned. Just sweat that neck a little. He may not be a tiny, pencil legged guy, but he is put together really well. Definately not one f those that you look at and see the hanging belly and so on. Looks a little meaty but toned. I would give him a second look if I were at the...

    What are Hay prices like

I am not sure of the difference, I know the stuff I get that is dairy cow hay is awesome. It is well kept, completely mold free, smells great and is a good color. The most I've ever found in a bale of hay from him, other than hay, is an occasional snake skin, and that is usually on the ouside of...

    What are Hay prices like

I guess I am truely blessed. We have been getting our hay from a dairy cattle farmer for years. It is a timothy mix, he only does one cutting per summer in mid summer (owns a bunch of fields) and charges $45 a bale for a 600-700 pound bale. The bales are the large rectangular 7 + foot bales...

Question on red duns and grullas

okay, pictures are posted on a thread started today. It is maked with the blue triangle and question mark. Please no flames or sarcastic comments. This is something that a breeder who has been breeding big guys for years said he appears to be. If he is just a bay, so be it. But I was also told...
