Our little filly has stopped eating her grain, she is still nursing some and she seems to eat her hay. We wormed her a couple of days ago and the weather here turned hot. Tonight we took out and walked her, she ran, jumped and played but once she went back to the stall and we started feeding...

    False Heat?

Is it possible for a pregnant mare to have false heat? I have a maiden that is suppose to be with foal, so the previous owners said, but when she gets around a stud or a gelding she will squirt like she is in heat . Is that a sign she is not pregnant?

    Berrett Ranch's new filly

I finally got the pictures posted. Lil Miss Buttercup was born Sunday, March 27th at 6 p.m. Thank God it was a smooth delivery. I am so grateful that I was in the barn, otherwise I would have missed it. She definetly has stole my heart

How old before offering salt/mineral block?

Our little filly is only 5 days old and she is licking on the mineral block that we have in the stall for the momma. I was wondering if that is too young? She is also beginning to nibble at the hay.

A full bag but no action

My mare that I was told was suppose to foal in January (she was pasture bred) is so big and a couple weeks ago developed her bag. It is nice and full now but still no action. Usually how long after they develop their bag do they usually foal?

    dosage?

We should be foaling in a few days. I have read posts about giving the mare Banamine after the birth, I bought the paste, how much do you give? This doesn't go to the foal thru the milk? Has anyone used Stress-Dex gel? Thanks Kristi

    Mare close I hope

I have a mare that the former owners said was due in January but she still hasn't went yet. They pastured bred her so I know that their time could be off some. In January she did not have many signs that she was close but now she is beginning to develop her bag and showing some signs. She is...

    shaving mare before foaling

My mares are very furry and ready to foal soon and I know they should be shaved. The problem is that both of them will barely let me brush them under the belly. How did you accomplish it? Has anyone not shaved their bellies and had no problems? Thanks

    foaling kit questions

I have my foaling kit ready and waiting but I have a couple of questions. On the Probios-how much do you give the foal? Do you give right after it is born or when? Do you use the child enema only if needed or as a precaution? How much of it do you use? When do you usually worm the foal? Thanks

    help-mare dragging leg

    hoof trimming and vaccinations?

I do not know when the last time that my new mini mares were vaccinated and had their hooves trimmed. Their hooves look terrible, the guy that we got them from said he did his own farrier work. On the one mare we are seeing some signs of her foaling time coming, I am wondering if now is a bad...

    Correct way to administer IcG

I picked up some Seramune IcG-300 ml from our local vet in case one of the mares doesn't nurse. I was wondering if anyone here has used this and how you administered it. The lady at the vet's office said that for a miniature you just use half of it. Of course the bottle reads that there could...

    Purchasing Colostrum

I have read that you should have colostrum on hand in case the mare doesn't let the foal nurse. I am having trouble finding this locallly, can you tell me what you all have used and where you bought it. We have a local Tractor Supply and they have a powdered colostrum but it doesn't say it is...

Their feet are a mess, but looking better. I don't know much about their health records as far as...
