The AZA, Association of Zoos and Aquariums, has approved our initial application and plan to be a certified Zoo!
Awesome update! So approved the initial application, what happens next?
Now we spend a lot of money building a zoo! We will be assigned a mentor and have guidelines for enclosures, husbandry manuals to write, procedure manuals and progress inspections. The first enclosures we are building are for otters, giraffe, zebra and crocodiles.

It is a very unique and exciting project to watch develop. Ouch on the conduit costs! We are just now getting our pole barn touched up and repaired after last years record breaking snow loads on the roof, and supply costs are definitely high!

We actually purchased it last August! We started on 3 acres about an hour south of Gainesville. Good thing they were all donated because you don even want to know what the wire is going to cost!
Not yet, but there's a lot more in my paddock than I thought there would be!!!
And THEN we build a zoo!

So our new ferrier is great, and is the only one who will come out here! Problem is he has a 6 horse minimum charge at $40 per horse. We only have 3 so either pay $80 per horse or get 3 more horses! Soooo, 3 more it is!
Best reason I know of to get 3 more horses!!!
