Welcome from Northeast Wisconsin!

Hi, my name is Gail. We have 6 children, Eric-20, Kayla-17, & Stefanie-14, Jenna-9, Emily-8 & Grace 11 months. My husband Paul has a custom farming business (plants, plows, combines, bales hay) and we grow corn and soybeans. We have 38 acres and rent the rest. I do the bookwork for the business so I feel very fortunate to be able to stay home with the kids (both 2 legged and 4 legged!). We have:

3 mares: Corky, Sassy & Chloe

1 filly: Lilly

1 colt: Jackson

2 geldings: Happy & Buck

We also have 2 house cats, Dutchess and Smokey, and 2 dogs Sam a border collie and Lisa a bassett hound.

I know you will love it here!

Gail

Hi,

Fun to read about everyone.

I am Angie Foy. My husband of 32 years, Dave, and I live in Southern Illinois (aprox 30 miles East of St Louis) We have 67 acres, but only use about 10 acres for our 'kids' and rent the rest to a neighbor for farming. We have been in minis for about 10 years and have been showing AMHR for most of that time. We started showing ASPC about 3 years ago and now love doing both. All of our equine are AMHR registered with a few being AMHA or ASPC registered as well. We currently have about 60 here and raise about 10 to 12 foals a year. We love our geldings, so geld nearly all the boys born here and train them for something before we sell most of them. We do have 8 geldings that have a forever home here and we use them for pony and cart rides for birthday parties and daycares and many other things.

We also have a mini donkey gelding, 6 llamas, a pot belly pig, 3 ducks, 3 chickens and an assortment of cats. We have two little dogs and two cats in the house and a larger dog outside.

We have a daughter that lives in Kansas and no grandchildren. The neighbors have 5 grandchildren that we claim as well and we have recently reconnected with a lady that grew up with us just after we were married. She has a boy, 7 and a girl, 11 who love to come to the 'farm' for the day, so we are having fun with them. Esp because my hubby was able to retire (at age 53--woo hoo) and we enjoy kids.

Love reading about all of you and have a great holiday season.

Angie

Hi and welcome to all the newer folks on here.

We are Hairicane Ranch in Bushnell, Central Florida. Humans are me, Jennifer and husband Paul and we now have a friend, Antonio, living in our back house who helps us care for all the critters and helps with upkeep. We have 20 acres with 3 lakes and various wildlife including coyotees, hogs, deer and even an iguana that lives wild here.

Our mini horses # about 40 and we specialize in appys and overos but also have a weakness for the dilutes and duns. We have worked very hard for years to buy minis of the bloodlines we admire and we now have pretty much what we want. Our stallions include- McCoy- the only appaloosa Sids Rebel son, Velvet- Our Little Kings Black Velvet son, Buckeroo Grdson and one of our wonderful driving horses, Mark- a frame overo Rowdy bred and another fun driving horse, Cisco- another frame overo, Rowdy and Oh Cisco bred boy and 2 fewspot/snowcap black appy studs- Bart and Chief. We also coown Slate- a direct son of Orion Light Vant Huttenest and National Champion producer and Laredo- a direct son of Champion Farms Nighthawk. We have a beautiful and colorful herd of mares including quite a few Gold Melody Boy bred mares. We have shown a little and plan to show more in 2007.

I have shown dogs for over 30 years and currently we have affenpinschers, chinese cresteds and mini Dachshunds. We have a herd of boer goats, geese, chickens and ducks. In smaller birds we have a pair of endangered Queen of Bavaria conures( captive bred so legal), Cockatiels, bourkes and parakeets. I think thats about it!!!

Hi Melissa! You did not introduce yourself by name, but I recognized your profile from the MHWF forum. I have envied you for your adoption of the "donkey boys". Please keep up the updates there.

My name is Peggy. I live in the southwest suburb of Chicago called Frankfort. My husband Larry and I have been married for 32 years, and have one daughter, Tracy, a veterinary technician. Our family includes:

Sundance Kid 35 1/2" silver dapple mini gelding (he resembles Karen's mini Bambi at MHWF) I trained him to drive and enjoy trail driving , as well as an occasional local show. My goal is to compete at the Indiana CDE in September.

Festins Pharoh 16.3 hand chestnut OTTB (off track thoroughbred) gelding adopted through MHWF. He's mostly my daughter's horse, but I occasionally toss my western saddle up and do a little riding

Total Reflection my 30 year old Quarter Horse gelding who we lost to complications of navicular in March 2002 He was the love of my life, and I miss him every single day.

Cassie blue merle Australian Shepherd adopted from ARPH, a little hyper, but that's what makes her so lovable

Scooby Beagle found running the streets and sentenced to death row, given a reprieve by my husband

Clarence black and white cat found by my husband as a less than 4 week old kitten in the street, brought back from death's door by my daughter, now thinks HE owns the house.

Hemi orange tabby Manx kitten, found a big sucker in my husband, who brought him home from my brother's farm to live a life of luxury in our home

Silver Belle my grey chinchilla, soooo soft and sweet

Einstein European Starling found blown out of his nest 10 yrs ago. We hand raised him and tried to return him to the wild, but he liked it so much better in our house. He has an amazing ability to mimic, and has a huge vocabulary (Yes, he talks)

Gizzy Jenday Conure Beautiful bird, horrible personality. He has pierced my daughter many times because he really HATES her. Very expensive bird, (donated to us), doesn't talk, just screeches VERY loudly

Sully, Sister Bertrille, and Paul assorted finches

Ricky African Grey Congo another donation to the family, lots bigger than Gizzy with a much nicer personality, and a great vocabulary. His cussing is hysterical!

Spot a very large Plecostamus who lives outside in the water garden with 13 (more or less) goldfish and koi for 5 months each year, and spends the winter months in a large tub in the laundry room

I work full time as a waitress in a steak and lobster house, mostly to pay for the board on the horses and the food bill for everybody else. In addition to my pets, I like to collect Breyer horses( over 300 of them!) and have an embroidery machine that I really should use more often gathering dust in the corner. I'm really enjoying this topic!!

My Husband Jim and I have been raising minis for about 8 years. We started with a pet for our

grandaughter and we grew to 13 from there. We have had more or less in the past years but 13

seems like a good number for us now.We show a little with our grandaughter and have a couple more

grandchildren moving into the show ring in the next year or so.We love to do local events ,like parades

fall festivals and just family gatherings where we ride some small children and drive a couple of the horses.

We are getting ready to take on a new type of driving for us next year along with some of our mini friends. We are proud members of the East Coast Mininature Horse Club . ECMHC Its a wonderful group of people to share our mini interests with.

We live on a small farm in North Carolina with our horses and a little Chihuahua that thinks she is a person .

We have two Daughters and 4 grandchildren. I have been told thats all I get. LOL

Welcome to the forum , Its so refreshing to see all the new people getting into minis. Its nice to have

new people to share our Habit with. LOL Maryann

Hello, :saludando: and a big Howdy-Doo WELCOME from Sunshiney Central Florida.

:

It's just hubby and I at home now, I'm Tanya and hubby is Lee. Our son, Dustin, is all grown now and currently serving in the US Marines. We are Seminole Wind Acres, newly residing here in Paisley, FL for about a year now. We started our farm a little over 18 years ago with Quarter Horses & Thoroughbreds, but over the years have dwindled down to miniatures now. We currently have 6 horses, (4 of which are now here at home with us), plus our two dogs.

In 1995, we purchased our very first 3 minis in a "starter package" purchase of 1 mare (Komokos Frosted Mini Feet), one stallion (Jokers Apollo), and their first colt (Colonel). We had our very first mini foal born to our farm in 1996, a filly, (Seminoles Frosted Desert Rose). The following year we had our second foal, a full sister filly, (Seminoles English Rose). Then fast foward to 2004 to when we had our 3rd, and last mini filly, our Grey Champagne, (SWA Champagne N Roses). That is Rose there in our Avatar, who will be 3 in March of '07.

Though we no longer have any of our "first three" minis, we at least DO still have our first 3 mini foals born to us. Their being Rose, Rose's mom, and her mom's full sister, now grown mares, (ages are "coming" 3, 9 & 10 yrs now), but just Rose is here at home with us, as her mom and her mom's full sister are both currently leased over to two very dear friends till next year where they are hopefully going to be giving them two wonderful babies in the coming Spring of next year.

Aside from our 3 mini "baby" girls, we also have a newly acquired mini gelding, (Dent Sky Ball Paint, a/k/a Chuckie), and a Harnessbred mare, Classy, and her first foal, a Harnessbred Gelding, Tuffy. Plus, our two dogs, a mini schnauzer, Rex, and an aussie, Hinky.

:saludando: So glad to "Cyber-Meet" you all, old and new coming here on "The LB".

I have really enjoyed reading this thread and want to join in to welcome you to the Forum. I have been participating from time to time on it for the entire ten years, I think, and have participated in miniatures since before we came up with the name.

My name is Tony Greaves, and with my wife of almost forty years, Carol, and our eighteen year old daughter, Lauren, own and operate Little America Miniature Horses in the heart of Texas, just south of the capitol city of Austin. We have one other daughter, Lisa Taylor, who lives in NYC with her aspiring actor/singer husband and our 1 1/2 year old grandson, Grayson. Both our girls have quite a few horses of there own here and Grayson has his first which we gave him the day after he was born. A "bribe" to get them back to Texas, but so far it hasn't worked!

We currently have over 250 miniature horses and, believe it or not, you can see and read about each and every one of them on our web site.

We show extensively and have been very active in AMHA, having served in many capacities including Executive Director for 5 1/2 years and three terms as President. Lauren just finished her second term as President of AMHyA and is senior in HS planning to major in Ag Business at Texas A & M next year.

We also have a few llamas, miniature donkeys, peafowl, rare Malaysian Serama Bantams, and several dogs and cats.

Again welcome and if there is ever anything that I can do to help you, feel free to email or phone. (That goes for all of you, but you probably already knew that.)

Welcome! Where are you located? My husband Robert (of 32 years) & I are located in SE MN on Runaway Ranch. We have many miniatures and love them all. I cannot imagine not having them in my life. We started with 2 rescue mini's and now raise them. We also raise pet bunnies, & fainting goats, have many rescue cats, 4 small dogs and 3 quarter horses. Ops! I forgot the 2 cockatiels and the lovebird, and last, but not least our guard llama.

I only have my youngest son Nik at home. He is 12, but my almost 4-year-old grandson is here freguently, ny daugter and her husband live not far from us. James, my grandson, loves to come to "horsey gramma's" house. My oldest son is in Iraq doing his secong tour there. And his wife is in NC.

Your family sounds nice. If you are ever in my area, please stop by and visit.

First of all, to those of you with family in the military; please relay my families thanks and well wishes. I am forever in their debt for their time of service in keeping us safe and free. Thank you.

Next - Tony, thank you for the generous offer of help and support. I might have to take you up on that someday!

Lastly - we're located in the Harmony/Preston area and if I am ever in the area, Runaway, I would love to swing in. I can never stop looking at horse and ponies!

Hello, Cindy Pond here from upstate western NY at Heartwood Farm. We are a three generation miniature horse farm, having loved and owned and shown horses since I was a wee girl.

I'm married to Walter -- current NYS Miniature Horse Club President and we have one daughter (age 14).

We have 7 minis at our home and my Mom's (age 80) has another 4 a couple of miles away.

WE LOVE to drive!!! Especially enjoying the American Driving Society Pleasure competitions with our minis but also get to a couple of breed shows as well.

We live on 12 acres and are the luckiest people for having these little minis in our lives! We do enjoy them.

So, it's nice to meet you!

Cindy Pond

:saludando: :saludando: :saludando: Hello and Welcome. I'm Getitia and together with my husband we operate Buckeye Walnut Creek Farm in Circleville Ohio which is located about 20 minutes south of Columbus, Ohio. We have 4 adult children who are all married and have blessed us with 7 Grandchildren. Les is retired from UPS and as he says, now works harder on the farm than he ever did at work - but would agree it is much more enjoyable.

Our farm is located on the gorgeous Scioto River with 91 prime acres of which over 70 acres is in pasture. It is our dream come true farm. We raise both Classic Shetlands and Minature horses. I've owned, exhibited and/or raised full size horses (Arabians, Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, American Saddlebreds(my first horse), Paints) since the 60s and even owned Miniatures back before they became miniatures
default_rolleyes.gif
: and our son's favorite show mare from the early 80s was a B miniature who was probably one of the best horses/ponies we ever owned. Today we have around 90 total horses and ponies and that number varies throughout the year.

I was one of those horse crazy kids you read about and drove my parents nuts with all of my horse antics and to beat it all my mother was terrified of horses- absolutely terrified. Today I work for an International Manufacturing Company in the Human Resources Department and am afforded the opportunity to travel not only domestically, but throughout the World. Thank goodness for my stay at home husband.

If you find yourself in the Ohio area, please do stop by and visit - The best part about owning horses are the wonderful friends you make along the way :saludando: :saludando:

I like this thread.

My name is Christy I'm married and his name is Tracy, we have 2 kids a 7 yr. old girl Cassdiy, and a 4yr. old boy Noah.

We have 4 horses: Smarty Jones, Silverbell, HOney Pie Pony (Trisket to CMHR), and Philly (a haflinger pony). The first 3 are minis; Smarty and BEll were our first 2 that we got for my kids 2nd and 5th birthday, they came fron the same farm. We bought them when they were 3 weeks old. HOney we got in September of 2005, She was a rescue From CMHR, she came up from Florida due to health issues and her family wanted her to have a better home with no breathing problems. Philly is our Haflinger that was bought for my daughter to ride, but it hasn't worked out so well. She's green broke to saddle, but kid safe and a perfect lead line pony.

We have 2 dogs and 1 cat. We just moved into an old farm house that has been redone. It sits on a 500 acre farm. We don't own any of it, but we are hoping to be able to bring up the horses here next spring. It's a close friends land and we are hoping that he'll agree to letting us have the horse up here, his daughter had horse for a long time and the pasture they werre in is nolonger being used for anything.

Nice to meet you, you can go on my website to see my horses.

This has been fun to read!

My name is Lori and I live in York, Ontario, Canada with my husband Mike and my daughter Mickey. Our farm is MiLo Acres Training Centre and it is home to Maple Mountain Miniatures - a breeding partnership with my sister Dale who lives in Fergus, Ontario. I have loved horses ever since I can remember and rode English for years. I bought my first Mini 18 years ago and fell in love with him. I train Miniature horses and ponies to ride and drive and I work on our farm. We breed Minature horses for driving. I enjoy the breed shows but absolutely LOVE the Pleasure Driving shows and CDE's. We have a whole bunch of Miniatures here and rough coat Jack Russell terriers (6 of them), a pot belly pig, 3 house cats and 1 barn cat. Until recently we also had a Quarterhorse mare and a Paint mare. You are welcome to visit our website and meet us all in person (so to speak)!

Welcome from Indiana!

My name is Lori and I live just north of Indy. Me and my husband, Mike, have been married for 18 years and I have 1 step-son. He is married and they just had their first baby. I'm a grandma! I have to get her some pink cowboy boots. I'm a dental hygienist.

I have:

3 Arab mares: Valentine, Nova and Starr

5 minis

1 cremello stallion, 3 years old, DBF Yankee Doodle Dandy AMHA/AMHR

1 black mare, 13 years old, Jandts Lady at Night AMHA/AMHR

1 smokey black, 5 month old colt, out and by the above horses

1 bay unregistered mare and her 8 year old gelding, unregistered. They were rescues. It is possible my stallion covered her last spring (OPPS!) and if she is in foal, I am considering going down the hardship road to register her before she foals?? Not sure yet.

1 indoor dog and cat

5 outdoor dogs and numerous barn kitties.

Welcome again. Lori

Hello , My name is Debbie and I am also new to this. I have had "big" horses on and off as life has allowed and now am loving these little versions. I started this forum under terrible circumstances with my own mini's but have continued reading because I am always wanting to learn more about these wonderful beauties. I have two mini's now Phoebe my first , she is 7 months and Star has just arrived before Thanksgiving, he is 4 months. The two boys I lost were Dandy and Bleu both 5 months. My husband of nearly 20 years has been wonderful through all my "added" family members and my two children, daughter 13 and son 17 have been very helpful too. Although they complain that I take better care of the animals than I do of them! We also have 6 dogs , 5 rabbits , and a multitude of birds indoors and out. Our little "ranch" sits on 10 acres in the thumb of Michigan. We also have 35 acres in the upper part of Michigan that we are looking forward to moving to some day. I look forward to the helpful information that all of you have to offer.
