    Showing in AMHR Sanctioned Shows

What classes can a yearling filly be shown in? I understand there is a height rule of 32 inches for yearlings as to what division, A or B, they can be shown in, correct? I am a beginner in the show world so any pointers would be appreciated!

    Weanling with a runny nose

Have a weanling colt with a runny nose, but otherwise is healthy as a horse! Eats, drinks, poops, plays, runs. No cough or no wheezy breathing, no fever. Treated with a round of antibiotics, no change. This has been going on now for about 4 weeks. Any thoughts you care to share would be...

Starting to work with your new foal

First of all, my new foals is 10 days old, she is the most un-friendly foal I can remember having in years! We imprinted her at birth, touched, rubbed, petted her all over from head to toe immediately, she didn't like it then and she doesn't like it 10 days later! I continue to try and...

    New Yearling Jennet

Last weekend I went with a girlfriend to look at some mini donkeys a "fella" had for sale. My girlfriend was looking to purchase, I went along for the ride. When we arrived, to make a long story short, seems this "fella" had acquired a small herd of ponies, donkeys (mini donks and mammouth...

    Probiotics

I have been reading an awful lot about probiotics for horses. I would appreciate any and all info from those using probiotics on a regular basis. Would love to hear if you use it daily, after de-worming, after antibiotics are used, "why" you use it... Please tell all!

Help! My 06 babies are itchy!

2 of my 3 babies, 4-5 weeks old are getting bald spots from all their itching. I have looked them over with a fine tooth comb, no buggies. Talked with my vet, says if we had lice everyone would have it. His thoughts were possibly bug bites that the babies just itch and itch, almost turns...

Our first of three for 2006

Wanted to share a couple of pics of our new foal. HE was born this morning at 8:30 a.m., very quick, easy delivery, for Mama and baby. Both are doing very, very well. HE is a steely grey with a perfect spotted blanket. Any guesses as to what color he will be in a few years? Still working...

    Gelded my stallion

How long after a 2 year old stallion has been gelded should you wait before putting him in with any mares/fillies? He is more than gentle and oh so friendly, just don't want any babies.

    Someone other than a vet

With the high cost veterinarians are charging in this area, I have been hearing of more and more horse owners (not necessarily mini's) having someone other than a vet geld their stallions. Living in farm country an awful lot of farmers castrate their own farm animals, calves, etc. and horse...

Hot weather - Mares heat cycle

Does all this hot weather we are having, play a part in our mares heat cycle? I have 3 mares in with a young stallion, his first year with the ladies, I am positive he covered 2 of the 3, but have not seen any of them come back into heat. Hoping this is two thumbs up for my young stallion, but...
