    Thick neck

This is a question for any of you who have owned mature stallions who have developed very thick necks as they matured, and then had them gelded. After they have been gelded, have you noticed if the neck has gone back to not being so thick? Or is that thick stallion neck something they keep the...

Question about mares' milk before foaling

A good friend taught me about tasting the mares' milk quite a few years ago and it has been extremely helpful over the years. So far, to the best of my knowledge, and having tasted it from most of my mares before they foal, they have all changed from salty to sweet (or at least not salty at...

    AMHA Meeting

I'm really really missing getting to watch the AMHA meeting online like I did the last few years. So I'd really appreciate any news of any changes in rules or new rules or anything else interesting that happens at it from those of you who were fortunate to get to attend. Thanks so much! Susan O.

    Another hardship question

I just noticed in looking at my 2010 AMHA rule book that it still says the director for hardship inspection can be a Former Or Current AMHA director. Was it changed to only a CURRENT one at last year's annual meeting or where did I get the idea it has to be be a current one now?? What is the...

    Hardshipping question

Sorry if this has already been answered on here at some point. If it was I missed it. I know the rules for hardshipping through 2013 allow a horse to now be hardshipped in at age 3. But does the actual physical age have to be 3, or can a horse that turns 3 sometime in 2011 be hardshipped in...

    Question about antibiotic for mares

I have a little mare who has had 5 foals. Her first and third she had normally and full gestation (for her). Her second foal was slightly early and a bad dystocia. At any rate her last 2 she had too early, one at 9 months and one at 7 months gestation. I think I remember someone on the forum...

Question about A size AMHR minis

I am not in any way trying to put AMHA against AMHR or have that kind of discussion. I am just curious as to if many of you breed straight AMHR horses concentrating on under 34" ones? Part of my reason for asking is that I mostly breed double AMHA/AMHR horses but I do from time to time breed...

    Question about the overall market

Lately I have heard that people are only getting $100 to $500 for most minis. I am not talking horses with faults like off bites or bad legs, etc.......... but for nicely conformed little horses that are not necessarily from well known bloodlines or well known farms but are good conformation...

    Stalloin fertility question

This is not a topic about "Should" you breed a stallion at a certain age or not. We have had plenty of those I am just curious if many have had a stallion who was not fertile at 3 years old but went on to be fertile at a later age. Thanks! Susan O.

    The End of an Era

Some of you already know, but instead of having to send way too many individual messages I thought I'd let you all know at once that I lost my Rambo yesterday. He had seemed to be in excellent health all this winter which made me so happy. But he had to be put down last night. All day he...
