How long before foaling can a maiden develop an udder?

My mares usually start about a month before foaling. Even maiden mares should show some developement. That said.....they're maidens and they'll fool ya! I've had maidens with udders not even close to full, no milk in the teats, and then they foal. Somehow, as soon as they have the foal there is milk. (thankfully)

my maiden mare this year drove me nuts. she started to bag up in April, & did not have the foal til July. she was pasture bred.

I was going to ask the same thing!

I have a maiden mare who has had a bag for 31 days (im not counting though

) was wondering if I have much longer to wait? It not a large bag but its there.
