My yearling appy boy has a blanket on his rump and yesterday in the sun I could see black spots all over his sides on his black body. I know it will be a guess but what is your thoughts on how his color will change. Will the spots become more noticeable or stay the same and just really show in the sun?

I haven't owned appaloosas until recently, but what I do know is that they can continue to progress in spotting for a number of years. Since your colt is just a yearling, I would expect his spotting to continue to increase for quite a while yet.

My guess is he will start filling in around all the spots with white hairs and eventually show off all his hidden spots

Since your colt is only a yearling you could have a "different" pattern horse even next year! Amazing the changes some times with the Appys! Have fun!
