    Showing in AMHR Sanctioned Shows

What classes can a yearling filly be shown in? I understand there is a height rule of 32 inches for yearlings as to what division, A or B, they can be shown in, correct? I am a beginner in the show world so any pointers would be appreciated!

    Weanling with a runny nose

MA - I couldn't agree with you more about the new Mom thing! To top it off, yesterday this little guy gets a deep 6-8 inch cut down his butt, right along side his tail. Borderline stitches type cut. Went with the WonderDust and now constant tlc. Looks just awful! I shall tell you, this...

    Bitter apple

I do cold turkey also. I agree, when our foals are about 3 months old, both Mama and baby are just as happy, Mama alone and baby with new a new buddy or two his/her age! I've had aged horses that go through a heck of alot more stress just being separated from their favorite pasturemate! : I...

    Weanling with a runny nose

It is thicker, but more on the white side. Like I said, he is really good for a few day, then it comes back, then goes away for a couple days, then comes back...

    Weanling with a runny nose

Have a weanling colt with a runny nose, but otherwise is healthy as a horse! Eats, drinks, poops, plays, runs. No cough or no wheezy breathing, no fever. Treated with a round of antibiotics, no change. This has been going on now for about 4 weeks. Any thoughts you care to share would be...

    Hernia

Nope, its not his umbilical stump. Closer to his sheath opening. Real jiggly, almost like a bubble. Does not seem to bother him at all. ???

    Hernia

Just got my new colt home today and I notice he has a small bump, maybe the size of a nickel, right in front of his privates opening, is this a hernia? Ironically enough, after all these years have not had one of these in the past. : If that is what it is, now what?? Thanks!!!

Starting to work with your new foal

Thanks everyone! My daughter kept reminding me that it is the one month mark that turns them into people lovers! I guess I just forget that from foaling year to foaling year! Just need to be reassured! I agree with what each of you has said! Suzie - thanks for relaying the story about your...

Starting to work with your new foal

First of all, my new foals is 10 days old, she is the most un-friendly foal I can remember having in years! We imprinted her at birth, touched, rubbed, petted her all over from head to toe immediately, she didn't like it then and she doesn't like it 10 days later! I continue to try and...

    Pasture breeding question

I say "Go for it". They will be happy to be able to accomodate and let horses do what horses do! I bet you will be surprised that your little guy with do just fine without help! :bgrin

Ways of naming your new foals

For the past several years we have done a combination of sire/dams name and tried to incorporate the color/color pattern. Since naming babies is always a "family" affair, I have now started naming the fillies after my daughter and the colts after my son! For example - my daughters name is...
