My filly is 3-1/2 months old, when should I start worming her and which is the best wormer to start with ? She is still nursing.

I start worming foals at one month of age with Safeguard, which I feel is more gentle on their systems than Ivermectin. Never use Quest on a mini!!! I worm the foals every month with this, switching to Ivermectin at around weaning or later. I worm them this often despite the fact everyone else in the herd is on daily wormer so the chances of our foals picking up worms around the farm are less than it might be for other foals.

Yep every 30 days on the foals starting at a month old........

We worm the mares right after foaling, so that the foal starts out receiving that with the dam's milk, then every other month after that. By worming at birth, the foals start out with no parasites in their system. From then on it's our responsibility to follow through to keep them in good health.

Ok, thanks ! I will go worm her now : ) and I know about Quest. Thanks !
