This is our first LIVE foal of the 2011 season. We lost a black/white colt a month ago due to a badly twisted cord. So needless to say I was very worried about this foal as everyone seems to be losing both mares and foals this year. Our little Merlot foaled him on March 21-@ 11:15pm and it was pretty much textbook for her. She is only 28" but is a good mare with great breeding behind her plus a good Mama. This is Vermilyea Farms Atlantis first foal. He is our World top five Black pinto stallion. This little guy is 20 hrs old and we got a decent measurement of 18" and all legs! Still have not figured a name for him yet. Sorry for the double post...mods please delete this post!!!!
Nice Nice nice!!! Handsome little boy! Its been scary reading about the gone bad foalings. So heart wrenching. I am so glad this one was uncomplicated. Enjoy your little boy
Well we ended up naming him Willow Rocs Dust in the Wind aka Dusty. Ever since he foaled we have had nothing but high winds here in Kansas which is about the norm in March
