Why measure to last mane hair?

My filly is a pale silver buckskin with body colored guard hairs on her mane (top and bottom). If she had a dorsal stripe I’d be really tempted to call her a dun, but alas no dorsal stripe. She has ear tips, guard hairs and her face is looking to be just a smidge darker than her body. It’ll be easier to tell if she ever fully sheds out! Her mane hair really does appear to blend with her curly coat. I’m actually not 100% sure I could definitively find her last mane hair. Of course, someone with sensation in their fingers would probably have an easier time feeling the texture difference. I doubt we’ll show her (unless we do an open show or something on a whim), so I guess it won’t matter! I’ll keep calling her a mini.

Thanks for all the info!
