I have two mares I am going to break for driving but they are both pregnant having ultra sound done on friday to determine dates. when should you not be working them? Not sure if I made myself clear. How far in to their pregnancy should you not be working them.

Well since they are not broke to drive I would not do it until after they foal.

Breaking a horse to drive is stressing on them as they dont have a clue what you are trying to tell them.

Now if they were already broke, then I would say fine drive them. However I dont do any work on mine that are used to it past 6 months.

Thats how I feel. If it all turns to manure and the horse gets a fright, it might make it worse for her if she's in foal.

We drive and ride our pregnant driving mares, but only the experienced ones....and the last Fjord driving mare we had in foal was unhappy at being driven or ridden after 4 months so she got turned out until after she'd had the foal.
