So sorry to hear of your loss. Please don't be ashamed to cry - grieving is how we cope with pain and loss. Crying helps to wash some of the pain away. When we don't grieve and hold everything inside that is when we suffer the most. You are a good and kind owner who made a very difficult decision but it was for the best.
