Does anyone own a Bengal cat? We are thinking of getting one and would like to hear some opinions on the breed. They do seem to be very nice and are more like a dog then cat.

Anyway I thought I would ask.

Thanks

Nicole

: They can be very hyper.

The ones I met were fairly territorial and a bit more like having a wild animal then your average house cat. They seemed just a little more in touch with their instincts then most house cats. But I only ever met the two so that is nowhere near enough to judge the whole breed.

I DO know they are amazing wonderful beautiful animals... just REALLY do your homework before you decide to get one.

Hi Nicole! Nice to see you on here again!!

We had two Bengals for a while a few years ago. They were easily the most beautiful cats I've ever seen, but they were both adults (females) that had lived in a kennel pretty much all their lives. When they were finished their show careers, they were used for breeding. I got them after they were spayed. Neither of them seemed to be litter trained AT ALL and pee'd anywhere and everywhere in the house. I heard afterwards that this is not uncommon in this breed since they're not your common house cat and tend to be more like a wild cat.

For beauty, they can't be beat. Just be sure to really do your homework on the breed before you invest. Good luck!

Hope all is well with you!

I have a female Bengal, got her as a kitten 2 years ago.

She is very talkative and lets us know, without a doubt,

when she wants some attention. She doesn't like to be picked

up and cuddled, but is the first one to jump onto a lap for a

scratch and a snooze. She loves heights and one of her

favourite places is the top of the cupboards above the fridge.

She is very sure footed and has no fear of running along the

top of the banister overlooking our living room, at least 16 feet to

the ground. :new_shocked:

Bengals are known to be very playful, and she and my male cat

play together very nicely, and sometimes not so nicely, but they have fun.

She definitely has her own personality and I love her to bits.

That being said, I had a reading done on her last summer because

she was urinating in inappropriate places every once in a while and

I wanted to know if there was something that I could do about it.

I was told that "my other cat is attached to me but she is attached to the house

and doesn't like things being moved, especially her bed".

If we move any of our furniture, like at Christmas, we will have an "incident",

if we don't make any changes, she's happy, and so are we,

and she's worth it.

Talk to some reputable breeders and get some references from their customers

before you make up your mind.

Good luck.

They had been sleeping, I woke Jazzmin up when I turned on the camera.
