Hello. First off a bit of background info... A good friend of mine who has almost 30 years of big horse experience got two oversize unregistered minis a few years ago for her daughter and for driving and got hooked. She is slowly replacing her big horse herd with smaller driving ponies and minis and only adding a few of the biggies. Many of her horses are recues or horses that just needed a forever home after they retired..many of whom are between 20-30 years old. So knowing she would soon be losing a few of her favourite horses she decided to breed a few babies to replace them. Last year she rescued two beautiful registered mares and was able to get their paperwork in order. Not long after I got a call from my farrier asking if I could take in a mini stud or if i knew anyone who would. I told my farrier that I couldn't take him but I'd go take a look at him and try to fing him a home. Well I couldn't believe what I saw..this little boy was at least 200 pounds over weight.. severely foundered and still has free choce alfalfa hay. I don't really blame his owner, she loved him and he was well taken care of until she has a stroke and was not able to get out to him so she has someone else looking after him who knew nothing about minis. She loved him so much and just wanted to find him a forever home to lose the weight and be happy. Even with the extra weight and founder I had never seen a mini move like this boy. Even when he walked he looked like he was prancing.. and his trot was to die for. I knew exactly who to call and about a week later Duster was in his new forever home. Unfortunetely he had an eye infection and lost his eye soon after his move. With alot of hard work Duster has lost most of the excess weight and is now starting to muscle up. He is a very happy boy and you would never know he's a stallion untill there is a mare in heat..and even then he just talks. His first two babies for CJA Bella Ranch were born about a month ago and they are both to die for and as sweet as can be. I'm so happy this little man could find a home to be happy and loved. I was wondering if someone could please look up E &Js Pizzaros Feather Duster (A 63619) in the AMHA studbook. Also if someone could look if he has any registered foals. We know for sure he has had one foal.. a loud grey appy...but we don't know if he was ever registered. I apreciate this very much.
