I have an 8 month old colt that is starting to bite. Tonight when I was brushing dirt off his belly he turned and got me on top my head as I was leaning over, and yanked hair. I firmly told him no and pulled down on the lead. Obviously it didn't faze him because a minute later I was on the other side picking his front hoof on that side and he got me in the arm. Should I tie him shorter so he can't reach me or is there a way to correct this. He is going to be a gelding soon and hopefully that will help but what do I do until then. I've never had a horse that bites.

Those young ones can be rather nippy but they are also smart enough to learn to stop it if you let them know they aren't to do it. A good sharp "no" a few times and they usually stop it. Mary
