She, is looking AWESOME! I am loving just how thick she is!

Time to start saving up for a neck sweat, and throat latch sweat.

Thanks guys.

I'm REALLY excited to watch her grow. She looks like she'll be built like her sire and her full sister. I think she'll be as thick as her sire, but just palomino. lol. Her sire didn't look all the bad, lol. Had the exact conformation as her except for her hind legs.

I had been working with her on setting up since I put the halter on her for the first time. She was walking beside me on a halter/lead rope by day 2. I'm not even kidding or exaggerating. Of course, I was more following her around but she got used to the halter.

Here's a picture at 2 weeks:

I tried to keep her training constant. A "Whoa", hand signal, then snapping of fingers for her to set up, hand signal, "Whoa", hand signal. The hand is up the entire time. Even when I'm standing beside her.

I test her too at times by:

1. "Hand signal

2. "Whoa"

3. *Dropping lead rope*

4: Hand signal

5. "Whoa"

6. *Walking 3-5 ft away*

7. Hand signal

8. "Whoa"

9. *Walking full circle around Ale*

10 Whilst saying "Whoa"

It serves no purpose but to see just how much she's taken in. I've been doing this since she was 2 weeks old successfully.

EDIT: I really don't like how my grasp looks in these pictures. It looks like I'm going to throttle her if she doesn't stand still. She just never has her head going the right direction! -fail-

Ahhh what a pretty girl! Love watching her mature

Now, it may just be the lighting in the pictures, but are her lower legs getting pretty dark? Maybe it is just a very close clip? Just me being curious as she looks silver buckskin in the newer pics instead of palomino.

As a tip for setting her up-hold her chin in your hand. It keeps her from squirming and turning her head. I brought a weanling to a show a couple weekends ago and on the first day had a bit of trouble with him when it came to that. Had a few people give me tips and apparently holding their chin is commonly practiced by seasoned show-ers and trainers and is better than holding the lead so close as applies upward pressure (will encourage her to keep her head up) instead of downward pressure. So try it out, it works!

Hehe, thanks. I was just looking back at the pictures that I posted in this thread and she's really grown up! Between her 10 week picture and her 3 month pictures I was like, "Ale! You grew a neck!!!" Hehe.

Her legs are getting dark. Full on palomino though. Palominos from what I here go through two stages. A dark stage and a light stage. I'm not sure if her dam even has the chance of producing a buckskin. She's never produced a bay-based foal with our stallion who has produced four bays. She's only produced Smokey blacks and palominos.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try it! You mean like just cup her chin into your hand, right?
