Pony needs a new home in PA

We picked this guy up from the auction this summer. He was skinny and needed some TLC. He is ready to find a new home as we are looking to make some room for some others that will need our help this winter. He is up to date on all shots, coggins and worming. I am willing to deliver him locally...

    Pumpkin Mugs for the Camera

This is Pumpkin, a 3 year old mini that was about a 1 on the body scale when we got him. He's gained 75 pounds and grown and inch since August. He wasn't bothered at all by the antlers. He is too cute!! The first one is the horse antlers. The second one is my daughter's headband that he was...

    Pumpkin is learning tricks!

I have the Trickonometry book. I use it as a basic guide. There's a really good quiz in there that helps to categorize your horse and gives you a good idea of what tricks will work best. I taught him the "say please" with one hoof but he figured out how to do it with the other. It's great...

    Pumpkin is learning tricks!

Pumpkin is our 3 year old gelding. He was underweight, wormy, scrubby and weak when we got him in mid-August. He weighed 150 pounds. He is turned out with another gelding and now that he has put on weight and gotten stronger, the 2 of them play all day. Since Pumpkin seems so eager to learn...

I would definitely get your vet's recommendations because the rotation schedule can vary by region. I rotate wormers to make sure that we get all of the different types of worms. I have 4 large horses and ponies and 2 minis.

    Liberty Pictures??

This is Raider's Sir Paul Buckingham aka "Raider" This is Pumpkin. When we got him in August, he was starved and we thought he wouldn't survive. He doesn't even look like the same horse I would love to see the finished product too!

    Our rescue mini

I just wanted to share. We got Pumpkin as basically what I would consider a rescue on August 17 of this year. He is 3, was very underweight, weak and scrawny. At the time I did a weight tape on him and he was 150 pounds. As of today, he has gained 75 pounds and has grown an inch in height...

Best place to buy nylon halters?

We seem to have lots of halters but not many that fit the minis well. The mini halters are too small, some of the others are too big. We have a 34" mini and 32" mini. Any suggestions on where I can get a well fitting halter? We don't leave halters on and only really use them for training.

Help me out, I so can not remember

Good luck and I hope that she gets better! We had a mini mare that was lethargic on Friday and wouldn't eat for the morning feed. She just wasn't herself. She didn't try to go down or roll, she didn't paw the ground and she had gut sounds. We treated for colic per the vet's instruction with...

    Saddle size...

I also think an 8" would be too small. I would go with a 10" saddle or even possibly a 12" pony saddle. We had a very wide mini who didn't fit in mini saddles so we used a 12" pony saddle on her.

Getting a colt to eat grain...............

We have a starved mini that was like that - she would gobble up hay but didn't really want grain. I wouldn't sweat not eating the grain right now as long as he is consistently eating his hay. We started to soak Cocoa's grain and found that she eats it much more readily now but we can't put hay...

    Feeding/Worming Advice

Good quality hay will go a long way along with plenty of clean water. I would start slow on grain and supplements. Our vet recommended probiotics about a week after worming for our 2 starved minis. I think you should worm the little one too and follow up with probiotics. Definitely have your...

    UPDATE****Kansas Minis****UPDATE 10/2207

Very well said!! :aktion033: :aktion033: :aktion033: for Ginny, CMHR, and SWER for all of their hard work. I have 2 minis that both looked like these horses and are on the road to recovery. It's amazing what good feed, vet care and hoof care will do for an animal. These are basics - if you...
