Are you having Rain or Snow this week?

We broke a record in western Wisconsin, for snow fall in February. We got over 53 inches. This has been one looong winter. And the below zero temps, too, are nuts, had 40 below here a few weeks ago (and that wasn't the wind chill). Spring sure will feel great this year!

    What book/author do you wish...

Another one would be Walter Farley and Marguerite Henry.

    Island of the Blue Dolphins

OMG! Thank you for mentioning this book!! Wasn't it a movie many years ago? I either read the book or saw the movie a LONG time ago, and I loved it!!!

    April's Book-Of-The-Month is....

We do have a bus stop nearby here, but because of my health issues I'm rather hesitant to take the bus... I think if I ask a friend, or two, to drive me, they'd do it. I feel like a bother to them tho...

    Mystery books & authors

Awesome! Thanks! I'm going to jot down all the author's names, and next time I can get anywhere near the library or a bookstore, I'm going to have some fun!

    Mystery books & authors

I've seen the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series mentioned... maybe that is a good place to start? I always enjoyed Agatha Christie, but her books were never long enough for me (I like a nice long read!). Anyway, any other suggestions are welcome.

    Mystery books & authors

I'm pretty sure this has come up before... But, I'm dying to read a good mystery, I'd like to find a series that I can just get totally lost in. Any suggestions?

    What book/author do you wish...

The Hobbit. I read it so long ago (1972 I think it was) and I was spellbound!

    April's Book-Of-The-Month is....

I really am going to start reading the books of the month here. My car is STILL out of commisson (going to cost me alot, well, a lot to me right now, ha). So until then I am only getting rides from friends to the grocery store, kind of hate to ask them to drive me downtown to the library...

    Just DO IT!!!

Wow. This is a great question!! Lemme see.... hmmm.... the classics, of course. And as to the "why", I think reading just makes you more of a well-rounded person, opens your mind, helps your grammar, just really opens up your world and imagination. I wish more kids read books, and spent less...

    On a reading hiatus

Right now I am only reading the magazines I subscribe to (not truly reading, since to me reading has to be a book...but, well, anyway...). I've had a couple pets that were sick, then I got walloped with another sinus headache thingie...... that is usually what prevents me from reading. And...

Being overweight is a bad, bad thing ;)

LOL. I've had a few that I wondered about, but so far nothing has toppled over...yet.

    Book choices for March

I'll make sure I watch it next time it's on TV, it seems to pop on TV every so often. It really does sound like a good movie.

    Book choices for March

Well, I hope to get in on one of these books one of these months.... Oy! I am still without a car that runs, between pets that have needed vet care, and the rather high cost of the car repairs, I am still somewhat stranded at home without transportation to the bookstore (until next month...

    Westerns

I LOVE westerns!!! Louis L'Amour was always one of my favorites. Has anyone here read "Lonesome Dove"? I read it a long time ago, way before it was a mini-series/movie. Fabulous book!
