Entries for R Nationals close soon...

Will be there with SD Mini, I'm taking 4 of them. My yearling "B" filly out of American Express. A yearling Black and White stud colt, my two year old silver gelding, and my two year old Black Tob-Overo Stallion, and I get to pick up my new stud prospect there as well I think we'll be there...

    For fun...

Black and white or bay and white pintos, preferably several patterns going on and love those big blue eyes

    Shetland Influence

I'm not sure we need a new class JMS, what we need at the national level is HONEST MEASURING. So the horses that have been showing all year long in one height division aren't suddenly showing in a smaller division at the nationals!

    What is your opinion

I actually have to laugh at the tone of the thread, no it isn't us against them, it is each individual's passionate response to the breed or type they own or prefer. I think alot of what we think is only a matter of perception. I live in a predominantly AMHR area, lots of shows to choose from...

    What is your opinion

As everyone has said there are pretty minis and shetlands and not so pretty of both too, ditto with personalities, I have to agree I believe it was Lisa that some minis are really hot, and personally I like them that way, just my preference. As far as legs and necks, I bought a filly from...

    What is your opinion

I for one am NOT going shetland, nothing against them, they have their plus and minus points just like every other breed, but if you don't think mini's have nice enough necks or enough "refinement" perhaps you should head on down to the world show in Ft. Worth. I guess I always get my aesthetic...

    Feeding the young ones

I give mine nutrena youth with a little calf manna in it (the calf manna is basically added because it helps keep the moms from getting run down) and they freely indulge as early as a few days old! When it comes time to wean they are eating great and in good flesh, never seem to go through that...

    National Show

You can show all the way up to Nationals to qualify, but anything closer than 21 days you are responsible for providing proof that you showed

    Warts???

it is actually a bovine virus that can live in the soil for a very long time. Although it is ugly it is harmless, and once they've had them, I've been told they can't get them again. I've also heard that if you pick them off they go away faster, but for me that was a huge "ick" factor, so just...

    Head Hunters

As Riverdance said, it is all in the eye of the beholder, but honestly has anybody looked at a QH Halter horse lately? They are a far cry from the clunky foundation look that so many equate with QH. I'm not a shetland gal, but if I were, I would beeline down to Rhapsody shetlands for a pretty...

    Iowa club show

I don't want to sound snotty, but honestly, they do look pretty and shiny at home, but at a show they would look downright shaggy. Even a couple weeks growth looks shaggy to me. Shoot, at Nationals they are clipping everyday! They just look more polished and prepared when they are clipped up...

    grooming horses for showing

It depends on how dainty mom's head is, I've seen plenty of people use the beaded halters from Quicksilver (e-bay) on foals and they look darling, Quicksilver also makes a band noseband, also very inexpensive. Bodyclip, hoofpolish and lots of babyoil gel on the nose, and over the eyes. A #10...

Sorry but that story hits too close to home!

    Minnesota Club show, July 4-6

I wish he'd get them online too, he managed to do something Liz couldn't and that was to get a GOOD picture of my nearly all white horse! I didn't buy there because I wanted to be able to take my time and look them over at home

Can't hurt to test those foals for color

Will the associations let you list them as a pinto on their papers if you can show DNA proof that they indeed carry pinto? I don't think they will unless they actually have spots, so anybody doing lookups still won't know will they? I have several that carry various patterns, but for all...
