This is going to be my last political thread that I start before the election.

Some reasons as to why I do not want Barack Hussein Obama as my president. Reasons are not in any particular order.

Obama's elusive past

Associations with too many people of questionable character

TOO many unanswered questions

ACORN

Too liberal

Lack of experience

Liberal Supreme Court Justices (to be appointed by Obama)

His promise to bankrupt coal companies (which is the only income to a lot of Kentucky families)

Both Hilliary Clinton & Biden have said Obama is not ready to be president

His promise of HIGH energy costs

Wants illegals to have drivers licenses

Democratic controlled government (no checks & balances )

Big government

Socialist government

Tax & spend - Spend & tax

Social programs expanded growth

Take my income to give to those that won't work ( but yet he won't help his relatives living in slums)
default_nono.gif

My grandkids future loss of security in America

Possible loss of freedoms in the media ( radio talk shows that disagree with him )

Ayers

Rev Jermiah Wright (spiritual pastor for 20 years)

Louis Farrahkan

Lack of experience - I do not trust him to keep America safe!

Happy & safe election day to every American

A thoughtful mind, when it sees a Nation's flag, sees not the flag only, but the Nation itself; and whatever may be its symbols, its insignia, he reads chiefly in the flag the Government, the principles, the truths, the history which belongs to the Nation that sets it forth.

Henry Ward Beecher

A politician will do anything to keep his job - even become a patriot.

I already voted for McCain... so tomorrow I rest and watch.

I don't have time to write all the reasons but him saying that he wouldnt want his daughters to be "punished" with a baby if they got pregnant is the first to come to mind! A baby should never be referred to as a punishment. That is just hideous and unforgivable. Sheila

I totally agree with what has been said about Obama also I know he says he will be cutting tax for middle income but you know he is gonna make that up but taxing something else.... If it sounds to good to be true it usually is !!!!!

I wish I knew how to register to vote. I'm 34 years old and have never voted. I don't know how to or where to register. My husband wants to also, but we don't know where to go to do it.

That being said, I am against Obama for a few reasons, but the biggest most repulsive reason is that he supports abortions. I can't stand behind a man that says it's ok to kill a baby if it's an inconvienience to you. When a woman gets pregnant, she seems to be the only one allowed to make a decision about the baby. If she wants an abortion, she can go ahead and kill her baby. If the father wants her to get an abortion and she doesn't want to, tuff luck for him. If he wants the baby and she doesn't ... tuff luck for him again. Yet, if a woman is murdered and pregnant with a baby, they get two murder charges slapped against them, one for the mother and one for the unborn baby. Why is it ok for the woman and a doctor to kill a baby and not get punished? We have safe harbors, hundreds of families out there that would love to adopt a baby. There's just no excuse to allow abortions to be performed.

Ok, so they say, what if the woman was raped. I will tell you from expierence that as a 14 year old who was raped by her uncle and got pregnant, I never once thought of getiting an abortion because that baby deserves it's right to life. I ended up haveing a miscarriage, and the only reason I told you that was to show that I've been on the other side of abortions, and as dark and scarey as the whole thing was to me, I never once thought of killing the baby.

Then they say, it's a risk to the mothers life. Ok... well if getting pregnant could risk a woman's life, why doesn't she take steps to prevent that? A hysterectomy would end that worry.

Sorry if I seem argumentative, It's just that every single time I see Barak Obama's face I think he's nothing but a snake in the grass...I also fear for his life if he's elected. We all know there's organizations in this country that are so demented they think a black man has no right to run this country. I worry they will do something drastic to him... no matter if I like him or not, he still deserves to live.

That's about as political as I can get.

I agree with all the above..and for me it is a few more things..Freedom of Journalism and Nafta

Im sorry but nobody has the right to tell another human being what is or is not right for them. And by saying a person cant have an abortion thats what they are doing. YOu dont know ones history or life at the time. ITs not a easy decission for anybody to make, and think about it, telling them no they cant do that, they are only going to hate that child for being there.

A hysterectomy would end that worry.
You cant just walk into a clinic and say, hey I want that done. YOu have to have a medical reason for it.

Kim, here is a link to your states "Secretary of State" AR SOS

after the first initial paragraph there is a voters section on the left, there are links to registration. I didn't read it, but it's probably too late for tomorrow, but you could get started now so you are all set for next time.

Let your voice be heard...VOTE

edited to add the link, I forgot the most important part!

Ashley I understand what you are saying, I'm pro-choice, but I'm not for using abortion for birth control and if you look up the stats, that's exactly what's happening these days. I don't know what the solution is.

She does have a right to her opinion...remember to her, that baby that is being aborted is a human being as well just as the mother who chooses not to have it..it is a two way street. I wish that education would help the situation as a whole, but many woman have repeat abortions...it's not like they don't know what's going to happen. There is no easy answer to this. Yes, I want woman to have a choice, but they can also choose to protect themselves (or not have sex at all).

I'm taking the lazy way out and will repeat what others have said that the above is my feelings as well.

And I have to agree with Cimarron's statement in regards to what Obama said about pregnancy being a punishment. As far as abortions go, I personally feel that is that womans/couples choice and no one elses. As far as a religious stand point, again this is between that woman/couple and her/their God. No one else's.

Kim, It's too late to register now, I think........at least in our state.......your state may be different. In Oregon, there are registration forms available at most post offices.

In regard to the abortion issue.........I understand completely where you are coming from. You went through a tough one and can see things from a unique perspective.

My situation was what is now termed a "date rape". I chose to have an abortion in the first tri-mester. It is something I live with and regret even after 32 years. If I had to go through it again, I would have given up the baby for adoption. That is one thing people rarely bring up as an alternative. Oh, and I am for abortion if there is risk to the mother's life, however, how many women wait to find out how risky the pregnancy is until late gestation????

I also wonder why Partial Birth Abortions are legal (and viable babies that survive the procedure are killed out of utero), but the state will prosecute murderers for two lives lost when a pregnant woman is killed. While there may be many "gray areas" regard abortions during the first two tri-mesters, I cannot bring myself to understand the reasoning behind allowing Partial Birth Abortions.

Kim and Maryann - I want to say thanks for sharing your stories...that was very brave and I am sorry that those horrible things happened to you both...you did not deserve to be put in that situation. It puts the whole subject in another perspective. ((hugs))

I can fully see both sides of the spectrum.

Yes I dont like that abortion can be used in place of the pill. I had a stupid friend that did that, havent talked to her in a couple years so dont know if thats her current trend. But I do know by 22 she had had 3 abortions. I also dont agree with PBA either. Thats just sick and wrong.

However I do think they should be allowed in the first trimester. Again I have my reasons. I can also see how being pregnante could damage a person and have it thought of as being a "punishment". I will be fully honest and know I could not carry a child that came from rape.

Ya know, if people stop having sex underage and as pleasure rather than love, there would be a lot less abortions. Sex has turned into the fun thing to do! I've had friends worry and fret about being pregnant, swearing they aren't ready and weren't ready... all I can ask is why they were having sex if they didn't want a baby? Isn't that kinda the expected result?

I am glad for those that are enthusiastic about either candidate, I am not.

My pick has been McCain, not because he is what I think we need but because I have more reasons not to vote for Obama than I do McCain.

Obama's "clean" campaign that some people on here think so highly off has not been but I guess Fact Check only works when it's used against McCain. I'm not saying McCain's side didn't do in kind, take a look here to see both sides "whoppers". Unfortunalty it's way the game is played but I would have expected more from the man whose whole campaign revolves around the word "change", flip flops, distorted truths, half lies and scare tactics seem like the same old same old to me.

I'm not voting for Obama because

1: for all his talk of change he has not showed us any

2: He wishes to take us out of Iraq, where we are making head way, and stick us in Afghanistan which is has been proven by many countries that is almost impossible to win.

3: He promises tax breaks and more funding for social programs with no explanation of how we will fund them

4: Rev Wright, sorry but I for one just do not buy that one day Obama DIDN'T fall asleep in church and realized that after 20 years of attending that some really vile anti-American; anti-white stuff was coming off that pulpit.

I do worry about McCain wanting to stay too long in Iraq. Whether we should have been there or not in the first place is moot point to me because we are there now. We turned that country upside down, right or wrong, and I think we owe them to at least try to give their brand spank'en new democracy a chance. We also owe it to our soldiers to not make them fight a losing battle.

These things are as plain to me as the typing on the computer screen, does that mean you dumb to not see it???? No, it means I process things different than you, or your neighbor, or my neighbor and on and on. If Obama gets in I pray that the US made the right choice, if McCain wins I pray the same thing.

QUOTE Too liberal

HUh??? Seriously? Thats a reason not to support somebody?
YES I mean TOO liberal. I heard someone say yesterday that if you thought Bill Clinton was liberal you have NOT seen liberal yet! Obama will appoint liberal Supreme Court Justices & these are appointed for life! No checks & balances in a full democrat controlled government!

I do worry about McCain wanting to stay too long in Iraq.
I don't because I feel he will seek the advice of those leading the war and weigh the pros & cons & make his decision based upon their input.............. I think Obama would try to make the decision more on his own.

I heard someone on O'Reilly say that we have won the war in Iraq. Haven't seen it anywhere else yet - I hope it is true but are they laying low waiting for Obama to occupy the oval office!
