Jetta is the 3-4 year old mini I rescued back in August. She is blind, but does have some sight in her right eye. She also has a deformed pastern bone that causes her to walk on the side of her hoof. SHe cannot eat hay for some reason. Had her teeth checked and she has had them done recently. We have her on bagged alfalfa hay and Senior feed thats easy to chew. She is a big lovebug. Here are some recent pictures of her. You can also see before pics below. From her measurments and equation I used online for weight she only weighs approx 100 lbs! She is doing well!

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, and forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happends for a reason. If you get a chance; take it. If it changes your life; let it. Nobody said that it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

She is so blessed to have you! You have done a fabulous job with her. I applaud you!

Oddly enough I have seen quite a few minis with that same deformity. Years ago I rescued a bunch all at once off one farm and the older mare had it and all three of her sons and daughters had the exact same deformity but in varying degrees.

I had a quarter horse that was over 30 and could hardly chew. We soaked 50% alfalfa and timothy hay cubes into a hay slop and fed that. It worked wonders! Best wishes. That little horse is lucky to have found you.

Thank you for helping this special girl. She truly looks like a different horse in her current pics. Bless you both!

I just wanted to thank everyone of you for all your positive posts. She is a very special little girl. I have always had large horses and never a mini so its like a whole new thing for me. Especially since she is handicapped. I will try to keep everyone posted on her progress and problems we face in the upcoming future. I will also be posting alot of questions and concerns with her and hope that everyone continues with positive responses.....THANK YOU!
