Everyone needs to call there Senator and ask them to support the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (H.R. 503). Congress has approved this Act now we need the Senate to approve it.

The US has three slaughterhouses 2 in TX 1 in IL.

I agree the slaughterhouses are essential and only three for the whole US??

I have one no more than fifteen miles away and three knackers within hailing distance.

Perhaps preventing the transport of live animals for slaughter, over a certain distance, would be more helpful, and, of course, improved standards for all food animals.

Alice, unless you can tell me how all those unwanted horses will be humanely cared for, slaughter must continue. Otherwise, the abuse and neglect will skyrocket. This is a necessary industry I am afraid, and I sure hope that bill fails.
