I have an AMHA gelding that I plan on showing next year and would like to hardship him into AMHR .

What I want to know is how can I find out if his parents were AMHR registered and if they are would that parent qualify him for R registration .... how exactly does this work ?

Thanks in advance

If both the parents of your gelding were AMHR registered, he could theoretically be registered without hardshipping BUT only if his dam was on the stallion report of his sire on the year previous to your gelding's birth AND if you get the signature of the sire's owner and owner of the mare at the time of foaling on the registration certificate.

If you want to find out if his parents were AMHR registered, you can try to find them on www.horsestudbook.com, AMHR's online studbook.
