The vet has been out twice - tubed her each time and also tried to carefullyremove what may have been an impaction (although it looked very normal). She had a temperature last night but is now on antibiotics and is normal, but far from feeling better. She's depressed and off feed. The vet feels like she has an intestinal infection, which may have caused an impaction where he can't get to through her rectum. He drew blood today and he'll have it back tomorrow. Please keep our little girl in your thoughts....she is the sweetest little filly in the world (she'll be 3 in 2 months) and I can't stand seeing her like this.

Good Luck with Lacey. I hope they are able to get to the root of her problem and get her feeling back to normal.

I will definantly keep Lacey in my prayers. I must add I love your picture in your aviatar!! Joyce

I will add Lacey to my prayers. There sure is alot of colic's going on. I guess

its the weather. We are figthing with an ulcer with Pricesa again. She seems to

get it about once a year. I guess this time from being stalled to much with weather.

To icey last week here. So she is back on ulcer guard again. So I can understand

the worry about them.

Prayers for Lacey, please keep us updated

Vicky

Hon,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Lacey.......

On a sidenote, suggest that you give your vet a nudge to keep his eyes open to possibley her having an ulcer and/or hyperlipemia -- which can complicate stuff. The blood work should show what her liver enzymes are doing which will indicate if hyperlipemia is an issue.

Good Luck and I will be praying for you and Lacey. I recently lost my gelding at the beginning of the year because of a similar situation. It is relly hard to watch them go through this. Stay strong and remember, no matter which way she goes with this, that you are giving her the best care you possibly can.

My filly is going through the same thing right now. She had a suspected impaction and was tubed oil, also is off her feed . She had a raised temp for one day and it has been normal ever since but definitley not feeling good. My vet suspects an intestinal abcess with infection and is giving her two antibiotics ( pen & gen) to fight what ever it is. She is also being syringe fed 4 to 6 times a day. She has been staying at the vets office since Tuesday and is doing alot better now. I hope that yours comes around quickly also , I will be thinking of her.

I'm so sorry for those who are going through the same thing...

No change tonight.

I will discuss all of the things mentioned here and the situations explained in PM's me...thank you.

It's her liver...not hyperlipemia though. We're leaving for the clinic now.

tracerace,

Prayers for your precious Lacey. I hope that the vet can give you good news for your special girl.

Hugs to you, also.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.

The vet has suspected bacteria from the get-go...her white cells are up, and her liver function is compromised. He is contacting a specialist now. She's been given more pen/gen plus banamine and had 5000ml of drip. I came home (she's at the clinic...thankfully it's about 3 miles away) to eat and go to TSC to see if I can get some kaolin - we're also going to try some Eq Sr. If she doesn't eat he said we will need to tube feed her some how.

...he's going to do an ultrasound later.

How do you get the kaolin into them?

She was still weak when I left, and putting her head in the corner I remember my cat doing that when his liver was failing

Thanks so much for your input everyone.
