I'm not sure, but I think that's possible. But right now--at least in 2012 spring-fall, Anaplasmosis was really popular (as Lymes was in 2011) My pastor,grandpa, and aunt got it this year bad. Unfortunately my Grandpa didn't make it. My horse got it too and she wouldn't have been her If I didn't catch it in time. You just have to check your horses everyday after you see them. But they're not around in the winter time.
