My horses are all registered ( except 1 ) and I count 15 Unknown horses between all their papers. Is this common? Mine are all companion/pleasure and their are no "big name" horses in any of their lineage but I was just wondering how people can register horses and yet still have lots of "Unknowns" in their ancestry. Im assuming that hardshipping comes into play...???. If someone has time to explain it I would be grateful. Could you also explain hardshipping as well.....am I to assume that it is only for showing and not really a registerd horse.
Also I would think that w/so many Unknowns it would be difficult for breeders to make a knowledgable decision on who to breed to who.....not knowing what traits (good or bad ) are in a particular horses back ground. Thanks for shedding some light. You would think that after Ive owned minis for several years I would know this!!
