I'm in search of a diagram of a cart, easy entry or show cart, with parts named for kids to learn from. It will also be used in our 4-H hippology contest. I know some of the parts put I need to list 10 parts. Thanks.

Try Garry at Doublediamond.org. They build carts and should be able to come up with something.

Hmm, I can probably help with that. If your problem is with coming up with enough part names, here's a few:

Singletree (or swingletree, regionally)

Footman's loops

Shafts

Shaft braces (on an easy entry cart, the part between the basket and the shafts)

Basket

Dash (if applicable)

Rein rail (if applicable)

Seat

Spares box (if applicable)

Shaft tips

Shaft stops (the little bumps that the tugs butt up against)

Stirrups

Boot (the patent cover)

Axle

Wheels/Tires

Difference between "closed wheel" and "open wheel" carts

various types of springs/suspension

I did Hippology and Horse Bowl for years and well remember those days!
