Thanks for posting the results. I just couldn't keep up with all of them. Sorry I didn't get a chance to speak to you. I did see you in the stands, but didn't catch your eye at the right time.

I came home with an empty trailer. I picked out the best and couldn't afford it and couldn't make myself settle for second best.

Oh well, it's probably best in the long run. If I had known earlier, I probably would have bought a mare, but was saving my money. Now I can keep looking.

Lots of nice horses sold below what they were worth and quite frankly, lots sold for more than they were worth. Unfortunately, some of those are going to be used for breeding that never should be.

By the way REO, you should have come down. We didn't have chocolate, but we did have peanuts!

I didn't go to buy either, but there was a mare I'm kicking myself for not buying and a stallion (or two!) I should have bought!

We are just minutes from Red Earth, and just minutes off of I-35.

This was an awsome sale for the buyers! Some real bargains there and I tried to buy one but Frank was getting antsy when I had the bid up around $3,000........figured I better stop if I wanted to ride home in the truck and not in the trailer with the horse

Someone got a lovely mare.

Our two colts sold way below 'farm' price and we probably won't try this again, but they were in the top 3 high selling Jr Stallions. AND, THEY WENT TO WONDERFUL HOMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes the price ok!!! Okie is going to Canada (phone bid - very nice lady)and Star Fire will be right here in OkC with a wonderful couple so I can keep up with his progress

With the weanling/yearling colts at the end of the sale there were only about 10 paople left in the stands to watch.

I have never been to the High Hopes auction (well I think they used to put one on in conjunction with the AMHR/ASPC shows that used to be held in OKC? and I was there for one of them)

Just my observation, but to put on a good sale and "try" to keep prices up more that is WAY to many horses to sell at one sitting. I think half that number of consignments would be much more suited - as from the sales I usually attend 70ish is about norm. I know they get a consignment fee on everything that enters so for them the more the merrier, but look at it another way and only let 70 of the best horses in that want to consign and let them bring more money and they will get more off comissions then those that don't sell or sell for only a couple hundred dollars.

When you get up to 135 horses the whole last half of the sale just goes down hill, even if you have someone WILLING to pay a good price for your horse, you have no one left to bid against them - so they place their bid and it goes no higher.

I made that remark kind of off the cuff in a sleep deprived condition and probably should have thought it through more carefully.

I was not referring to just one horse and I don't know for sure which ones will be used for breeding or not. I just remember seeing a few horses that I recall shaking my head wondering why anyone would use them or why they were still stallions (also a few pathetic mares).

I am not at all trying to put down the auction. I really enjoy it. There were some great horses there and many of them went WAY below what they were worth. Had I known that I wouldn't get the one I wanted, I would have bought a couple of others that sold earlier.

I agree with Erica. It is hard to get a decent price when there are that many horses there. It just takes too long. I couldn't stay till the very end and over half of them had left before I did.

On the bright side, I own a half brother to the highest selling horse at the sale, and I like mine better.

It was a buyers market , and i did come home with a daughter of Halligonians Lil Dabba Do Ya or something like that. My grand daughter is going to try her hand at showing in the spring!!
