This little fellow arrived night before last.

I have a pretty good idea what color I think he is, but would love to hear your ideas.

Edited:

Color results are in: Homozygous black, heterozygous dun, LWO +, No silver, No cream (I think we checked out about everything LOL)

That makes him a Grullo Frame.

The only hint we had that led us to test for frame, since he is a solid, is the fact he had blue eyes. Given that his sire is a frame, sure made us suspicious. So, I thought it would be helpful to post the results as a reminder that Frames can be solid!

Well, he is CUTE, but I guess that isn't a color. And are those BLUE eyes???

Can you give us some hints, like what color are sire and dam?

Congrats anyway!!!

Sire is a Silver Bay

Dam is a Silver Buckskin (maybe Silver Buckskin Grulla)

Oh, yes- found the baby blues today- his first day out!

Thanks, too

Hey Peggy, I say grulla also and he sure is nice. Congratulations!

I would also say he is grulla and his mom is a silver grulla. One of his parents have to be dun for him to be one.

I agree with tha above too - have had several the same colour as him -- he is extremely cute CONGRATULATIONS

I would not say dam is Buckskin, I would say she is Silver Black Dun...she may well have Cream, have you tested her?

Foal looks to be Grulla, no Silver, but it is always worth testing for both Silver and Cream when there is a possibility of their being in there!!

I ditto Jane. Both mom and son are duns. Son is a black dun (grullo).

Thanks everyone! His dam must be the dun carrier, for sure. I am anxious to test him.

I have not tested the dam yet. I just bought her in August, and she was already in foal. I probably will test her also.

I will let you all know what I find out!

I would also say he is grulla. Just wondering if dam may actually be carrying grey as well? Has she been tested for grey? Oftentimes when foals are born with such rich color, it is due to grey, and since she is "silver" something, she may actually be carrying grey?? Very handsome colt....congratulations!
