It is beyond me why Vets don't leave plain instructions as to what to do. And of course PAIN MEDS. I gave mine banamine for 3 days and half a dose on the 4th day. Some Vets just don't have any compassion. I asked my Vet all the questions BEFORE he gelded mine and if I wasn't satisfied with his answers he would not have done the gelding.

Give the little babies banamine morning and night.

The vet did a good job with the geldings. I specificly asked if there was any thing else I should do for them when I get them home and he said no. Just watch for any swelling. I asked about pain meds and he said no.

When I got up to check and feed everyone this morning I saw that my little one was kind of off and depressed. That is when I posted my question it just didn't seem right for them to suffer through the 1st few days in that kind of pain. I have worked with a lot of vets and you know some are just not with the pain and distress relief. I work with 2 vets now and one is pro pain management and the other you have to talk him into give pain meds to the animals. How can they have such differences in their practices? That is why I come back here for the real specialists knowledge.

I've had several geldings done through vets and none of them have suggested giving pain meds. Just exercise and watch their draining.

Yep to pain meds all the way

Yes to pain meds all the way. My vet doesn't presrcibe them though just lots of exercising and maybe some cool water on the wounds to clean it up.
