Right out of the AMHR rulebook. A futurity is a breeding program designed to promote and encourage a miniature horse breeder to breed the best quality show horse possible by selecting correct mares and using stallions to compliment the mares. It gives a breeder a chance to use his judgement, knowledge and skills to produce that superior offspring. It is a four year program. You can show your horse as a foal, yearling, two year old and as a three year old. All owners must be members and all horses registered with AMHR. The futurity is open to both divisions A & B. Deadline for nominating your horse is March 1st.

In the AMHR, before March 1st you "nominate" your stallions and mares. Alot of times even before the foal is born. Stallions are $25 each, mares are only $5. Any foal then is eligible to show in that year's Futurity. The next year, you "sustain" them for a nominal fee- something like $10 for their yearling and 2yo years, and $20 for their 3yo year. You have to sustain them every year through their 3yo year.

The Futurity is held every year at Nationals. You don't have to qualify. And the winners and placers can win big $$$!

And if you have a colt, you can geld him and enter him in the Super G for another nominal fee. When he's three, he shows at Nationals and again, can win big $$.

We nominate ALL of our foals as a matter-of-course. It's up to the buyer to sustain them. If we keep them, we keep them sustained. One never knows. We do have a foal showing in this year's Futurity!
