I think our new colt is a Black pinto, but he is very grey now that he is dry

do you think he is black? or smokey black 4 white socks please excuse his front socks are quite dirty

He must have been laying in wet straw in the stall YUcK

He LOOKS black pinto, but with that cream gene on one side, he's probably a smoky black pinto.......

Love that "Bulls Eye" marking!

It isn't always passed on, depends on whether the parent is homozygous or heterozygous (homozygous always passes one copy of gene; heterozygous only about 50% of the time). It can't skip a generation, cream (almost) always shows; the only way this appears to happen is in the case of smokey black, as there is little visual difference between smokey black and regular black.
