why do the minis not wear chin straps in the breed shows, but do in carriage driving?

exactly what chin strap are you referring to? Breed shows usually have the mini or pony shown in a snaffle half-cheek driving bit, which does not use a chin strap. Carriage and combined driving often uses a curb type bit like a Liverpool that requires a chin strap/curb strap.
