I have a foal who is just over 2 months old and his eyes are still blue. I thought by this age his eyes should have changed or started to change of to brown?

The foal in question is Confessor, a buckskin by two buckskin parents.

Thoughts?

I have had it take longer for eyes in some dilutes foals to darken. With that said, a b&w pinto foaled last September had blue eyes. I didn't send in his papers until the end of December because until that point I wasn't sure if they would stay blue. One turned completely dark grey, the other is partial blue.

It took longer than I anticipated for his eyes to turn to their adult color.

If they are bright aqua or ice blue, then chances are they will stay, if they are blue, but only easy to see when in a well lit area or when a light is shined in the eye, chances are they will go dark.

Just a hint, blue eyes reflect as red in the dark, dark eyes reflect green.

Thanks for the information Carolyn, that must be what is going on since he is a dilute. You can easily see that his eyes are blue, they aren't an ice blue nor are they bright aqua. Guess time will tell.
