Yes, I agree...I will turn my own mares out with my stallion once they are set in foal, but I will never, now, turn out "outside" mares...the exact same thing Lisa is talking about happened to Rabbit when he was three and I was very very lucky to get his fertility back, but it wrecked his mindset to the point where he is now not able to be out with other horses at all.

A visiting mare got very possessive of him and when he tried to breed another mare she backed into him and kicked a month of Sundays out of him, and he was in NO position to retaliate!!!!

People seldom take into consideration just how vulnerable a stallion can be.

Apart from anything else I will not mix visiting and my own mares.

Not really safe.
