Ants

I need to know what others use for ants. I get fire ants really bad. I now have the yard fenced in for horses and I am not sure what to use. I normally use turf ranger. It works great!

good luck with this I'm so sick of ants! this Spring is now beginning to be another nightmare year with them. I generally broadcast Amdro but last year even that didn't keep them under control. Spot treating is worthless, we've always had to broadcast over the entire acreage to control them. Last year I think we used 3 different kinds, I guess we did so well prior to 2014 because we'd had so many years of extreme drought, the rain we desperately needed has brought them back in droves.

But will the horses stay away from it? I was worried they may try to eat it?

I was too many years ago but my Vet assured me it was ok to use. After having a horse terribly bitten by fire ants I now do use it. Speak with your Vet about it and read all the info. on the particular type you want to use.
