This topic is being started to encourage all of the AMHA Presidential Candidates to state their ideas, issues of importance, share their past accomplishments in the AMHA and how they feel they would be the best leader to the AMHA organization. Specifics are requested, not just campaign promises. There are a few questions listed below to get you started. We're not just looking for a bio.

This is intended to be an informational thread and will allow questions from the readers for the individual participants to answer if they choose. There shall be no slanderous or derogatory remarks aimed at any of the candidates and the questions are expected to be presented in good taste. Do not refer to member individuals or related issues, but gear the questions towards the working parts of the AMHA and for the idea of helping the members become more familiar with the candidates intentions and goals for the future... or the thread will be asked to be removed immediately.

Let's see who joins in first

Some start off suggested questions:

1. What do you feel are the first important issues that you would like to address once you are elected AMHA President?

2. How do you see yourself working on these issues and what are some of your specific ideas about them?

3. What accomplishments specifically have you obtained if you have already actively been involved with the AMHA?

4. In your opinion, how do you believe the AMHA in general is running now... ie: good, fair, smoothly, disjointed, separated etc. and can you elaborate on that? What do think could help, if needed, the situation and how would you accomplish that task for the betterment.

5. How do you feel continued and greater involvement in International relationships will help the AMHA overall and not just a few selected members and farms?

6. Where do you see the status of the AMHA in the next 5 years overall.

7. How important do you feel that the general membership should be apprised about goings on in the AMHA organization? Do you feel they should know more? or less?

8. Do you feel that more decisions should be made solely by the BOD or the membership? Feel free to elaborate.

9. Do you feel that the AMHA decision makers have sufficient accountability?

10. Do you feel there is sufficient oversight of the financial affairs of the AMHA overall?

Before going too far in this, I would like for you all to read the below text that I coppied directly from the AMHA rule book, paying special attention to the powers of the board vs the powers of the president, keeping in mind that for a president to act contrary to these bylaws is a direct violation of the bylaws of the AMHA.

(A) The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the

Association.

(B) The President shall preside at all meetings of the members,

the Board of Directors, and the Executive

may be delegated by the Annual Meeting or by the Board of

Directors.

Thank you for sharing all that information Jody.... I think that's a good idea to remind our constituants of their duties from time to time.

I particularly like No. 3 - "The President shall enforce these Bylaws and other

rules and regulations of the Association..."

Hopefully the candidates are not too busy right now to share more about themselves as I think other members would like to know more about their decision makers before they elect them. For me, like other long distant members... I'm trying to decide if its worth spending the money making the trip from Washington to come and vote, and who I might like to support for the position. Maybe the candidates won't care to utilize this type of opportunity and that is their choice.
