    1and only foal this year

thanks everyone! This mare lost her first foal 3 years ago so that makes this one even more special. Last night we had 2 spotted donkey parents produce a solid grey dun girl. At least they got the gender right.

Not that I know of. All the minis/horses and donks are fed the same hay with no problems with the others. Thanks for your reply.

i am at my wits end

Most of these responses are giving jacks a bad name. I've had mini donks for 25 years and always have company for my boys. Some live with each other some live with big horses. I would never put an older one in with livestock unless he had the temperment for it. And some do. I think people...

    Not Bagging

Hi All, I've been breeding mini donks for 25 years, babies every single year so I've seen a fair amount of PG girls. I have one that is due,the vulva is bright hot pink which tells me she's ready but she has no bag at all. Positive of the breeding date because we always hand breed. I've never...

    Overdue

Yes of course. Can you tell I'm shook up! We've had mini donks for 25 yrs and there's never any worry. I haven't had many horse foals and had problems so I worry.

    Overdue

My mare is 148 days today. She was bred 1 time 1 day so I'm positive of the date. It took us 4 yrs of trying to finally get her to conceive which was totally unexpected. Should I be freaking out?!

I don't care what they say he had to weigh more than 6 pounds and yes I agree he does look odd.

    spooky foal

Our mini foal is 6 days old. We've been spending time with him every day. When we get in the pen he comes right up to us to get scratched......until today! Now he doesn't want us to touch him!? We get hold of him anyway and rub, lightly scratch and talk in soft tones. Still scared. Is this normal?

    Finally!

It was 80 a few days ago but she had to wait for the snow storm and highs in the 40's.339 days but he's worth it. Adorable red and white pinto. Only mini horse foal for the year. Lost one at 9 months and my very favorite mare is not PG I would post pictures but too complicated. Best wishes to...

    how and where to microchip?

I've done a lot of goats but they don't go in the neck. I had a vet do one of my donkeys and it was very painful for her. I'd like to know where and how. Thanks Judy Goulet

    gestation

I looked on 2 charts to see when my mini mares would be due. Mini chart says 13 days earlier than a full sized mare. Which is it?

Lost only foal of the yr

Really sorry you lost your foal. I just lost a palomino colt as well. She would have been due in May. Baby looked normal. She carried her last foal with no problems at all. Do you vaccinate for Rhino? Judy
