    Seramune temperature question

I ordered a bottle of Seramune after reading about it here, and was worried when the post office left it unrefrigerated and I received it on the 4th day after shipping. The folks at Valleyvet returned my email to say that it should be okay...so, I have to hope that it will be. Does anyone have...

Had an colt this morning, but we lost him

Please know that sometimes there's just nothing that you can do and things just happen. I had a little mare that I checked every night for a month, at least every hour and a half. Checked her MANY times Sunday night and again twice yesterday morning. Had to leave to teach Sunday school and...

Anyone in Upstate South Carolina or Georgia with newly orphaned or rejected foal?

We had a terrible complicated birth today and lost our foal. Thanks to our wonderful friends at Devon's Dixie, we were able to save our little mare. Was wondering if by chance anyone in the area had an orphaned or rejected foal that would possibly be needing a surrogate mother. I've never...

When's the best time to stock up on hay?

I'm wishing that I lived up north now!! Here in South Carolina IF you could find coastal burmuda 40 pound bales, it'd run $6.60-$7 per bale (not delivered). My alfalfa hay came from South Dakota We're PRAYING for rain this summer!

    Septic Foal

We had our first foal of the season on Sunday late afternoon. Easy uncomplicated birth and all seemed textbook perfect. Finally we had a FILLY!!! I put betadine on her umbilical stump several times during that evening and the next day. She got up within just a few minutes and was nursing...

    hay prices

We just had hay delivered this morning at $3.90 bale (coastal bermuda) including delivery mileage and to have them help unload it. I felt VERY blessed to have it-it's so dry here in South Carolina that there may not be many cuttings this summer.

    Pregnamare?

For those who have used this test, is there any certain window of time after breeding when this test should be done?? With the vet testing, I was given a choice of two tests that would be accurate through a certain period of time and I was afraid that the pasture bred time would fall in...

    Sale Board Mess up

Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? I see all of these beautiful ads on the saleboard, and I've tried to post 4 times now and the only thing that shows up is the first two lines of my ad! I can see all of what I've typed (although its bunched up into one paragraph) up through the last...

    Filly still in sack

Thanks, everyone. I did have a camera on and had her on Dom Peridone, even though she had been fed Coastal Burmuda hay on a dry lot for 4 months. I guess sometimes things just happen....

    Filly still in sack

I've been feeling so guilty all week. Last Saturday was the first day in a month that I didn't get up at least three times in the night to check my mare, which was due May 23rd. She had bagged up, but being new to foaling, and this was a new mare to me, I just thought it might be a while yet...

    Transporting Stallions Safely?

I bought "Pops" in November from a nearby farm here in SC, and my sister, who lives in Tennessee bought his 19 month old son in March. Prior to me bringing Pops here, they lived in peaceful harmony in an "all boys" pen. Since Pops has been in with my ladies, I had Jr. in a pen that was...
