When is a BAY a Black??

Went to play the shaving game today with my mini stud (Commanchee). He is a Bay right? Um now im not so sure :new_shocked: Looked black where we shaved him!!!

so what color is he?>??? :lol:
 
Bays are a "black based" color. So, their winter undercoat is always black...or at least very dark gray looking, when clipped.

: The red bay coloring will grow back in with the summer coat.

: Dont feel silly HOn, My blue roan mare is bay in the summer, black in the fall and white in the early spring, Almost got in trouble when my Hubby thought I got a new horse, We dont have any white ones he insisted, I had some explaining to do LOL :new_shocked:
