We have separate pens for the minis in the winter. We have one regular sized horse still here who acts as the matriarch over them all going between the pens to check on each one, she is 32 yrs young this year. Our stallion has his own pen and our 2 geldings have their own pen. We bring them into stalls at night, so our stallion "converses" with our youngest gelding at night. In the summer each mini has his own pen as our big pasture fence isn't "mini proof" yet.
