I was just wondering if anyone has heard how the miniature donkeys and miniature horse sold this weekend in Mitchell? Would also appreciate if someone could post prices if they kept track of them.

Thanks

Louise

I am at the sale - prices were low all the way around. I sold two mares for $400 each. The sale got moved from Mitchell last week to Platte, SD. The attendance was decent, but people seemed to be interested in short and colorful ONLY.

Would like to bump this up as i am waiting also.

Here are the prices for the SOS sale. Not sure why, but down towards #'s 87 & 88 there were two of each of those in the catalog that I printed off the website. I had someone else jot down prices for me for a while, so I am hoping they are correct. If someone else sees any prices that do not match theirs, feel free to post corrections.

This is one of the reasons I don't take my horses to auction. I am sure most of the people there took a horrible loss at selling at that low of prices. Not one horse near a $1000.00.

I hear ya - I brought my horses hoping that someone would recognize the quality of the pedigrees on the mares. Someone got one heck of a deal!

with prices like those, it makes me wonder why so many people breed still when the demand is just not there.

Yikes!!! Why were the prices so low? That is scarey.

There are a couple of reasons I think - first, the location of the sale was moved one week before the sale to a location about an hour from the original site. I think that maybe pushed some people from not attending. The second is, historically, the sale often has REALLY bad weather.

I do agree that the market seems low, but I must add that many of the people that attended the sale were NOT concerned about pedigree, etc... but bought cute, short and colorful horses. I think that there will always be a market for good quality horses - I've sold many horses for competitive prices this year.
