Hi - my 4 year old mare is suddently not interested in her hay. All winter she ate heartily, but now that I give her turnout on grass for about an hour twice a day, she's really fussy. Should I be worried?

(In addition to hay/grass, I give her carrots as treats, a handful of Martin's Happy Horse and about a 1/4 cup of flax seed in the a.m.)

I see you're gving 1/4 cup of flax. Is that ground or whole? I have read that flax should be in the 1 tablespoon amount per day. I give 1/2 tbsp am and pm. 1/4 cup twice a day is a good amount of BOSS.

Just an observation. (added to tell you there's a post called "Flax---info please" with good info)

Sounds like the grass is tastier.

After I re-read my message I realized I should have been a little clearer - I give more like half of a 1/4 cup of soaked flax seed - so the actually dry seed is only a small handful.

I will check the post on Flax - thanks.
