Question on Equipage

I have a question about the Equipage beeper and transmitters (is that what they are called, they go in the pouches that go on the mares). I have an older Equipage system and borrowed a beeper and transmitters (same age as my system) from a friend and though I've put new batteries in and the lights work on them, there is no beeping when the transmitters are turned sideways. I had bought an additional beeper and transmitter several years ago and it seems as if something had to be done to make them work with my existing system but I can't remember what that could have been. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The transmitters that go in the pouches on the halter don't beep. If you are referring to the pager, I believe it needs to be programmed to match your repeater (the base unit).
