Well we just got home from the ER, they wanted to keep him overnight, but he wouldn't stay.

Jon, my husband has been complaining of shoulder pain for a good 3 months, you know he is the type, never goes to the Dr. unless it is so painful he can't stand it, well he finally hit that point.......He has a lump in his shoulder that is alot bigger than the other side. After getting IV morphine, and that not helping the pain, they gave him 2 other drugs, can't remember off hand, but one was more for bone and muscle relaxer........well then x-rays where taken and there is fluid build up in that shoulder, they Dr. said it does not look good, and wanted to keep him for pain management.........he wouldn't stay, he hates hospitals. ANyway we came home with some pain killers, and he has to return in the morning for a Bone scan. They left his IV in for the dye injection tomorrow and then we are suppose to see the DR. right after then scan.

It scared me cause he also mentioned wanting to rule out bone cancer.....

I hate that C word with a passion...............I am not sure if most of you know but my daughter who will be 8 on Friday is in her 6th year of remission from having had Cancer.

She just had scans done on Monday and her CT scan came out great....she also had to have her hearing checked again, and sadly has lost more hearing in her left ear(she has hearing aids already in both ears)

Due to the high doses of chemo used in her treatments, she is still having lasting effects.

So if you have a chance to say a little prayer that whatever is causing his pain is treatable.........My husband is everything to me, and to our daughter, and I worry so much about him...........HE never complains unless it really is bad, so I know he is hurting.

Thanks guys.....

It seems so many people have so many terrible stressful things heaped on them one after another. I don't know how some people manage to go on, but there seems to be hope no matter what.

I have to think he will be alright and you will all be very relieved, soon. Please try not to worry too much until you know and I hope it is something that is easily managed and he is soon feeling just fine.

Glad your little girl is doing alright. I am sorry about her hearing....

Take care of yourself, I know how hard all of this is on you.

Liz M.

I am praying for you and your family. I am glad you received good news about your daughter's cancer. How many years of remission is it before she will be considered cured?

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family

UPDATE:

We just got home from the Dr. He has an air pocket and lots of fluid in his shoulder, the Dr. said he has never seen anything like it, so he is sending him for an MRI tomorrow and then on to a specialist after the MRI. He said the specialist will put a needle in and aspirate some fluid to test.

The bone scan really showed a difference between the shoulders the one that hurts had a big white patch. Kind of weird looking.

Fluid could be caused from infection in the joint, but he can't figure out how the air pocket got in there. So in the morning more tests.......and on to the specialist.

He did say he is not ruling out bone cancer, but thinks it would be last on the list of possibilities.

I am just hoping he doesn't have to end up having surgery.

I appreciate all the prayers so far, and if you don't mind continuing until we have more answers.......He is on pain killers, but is still in alot of pain, and they didn't want to give him any thing else until the specialists sees him.

I truly appreciate the support on this forum! Thanks everyone!

I don't know how the heck you could get an air pocket in there but air sure sounds better than the thought of cancer and having cancer pushed down to the bottom of the list can give you some breathing room!! Will keep those prayers and good thoughts coming for you!! It would be really great if they could resolve this without surgery and give him some relief from the pain too!!
