Who here lives in the North East. Do you like living where you are? Can you please tell me what your likes and dislikes are about the area where you live and the price range on rents and etc.?

Thanks

I don't know the prices and everything, but...

I live in New Hampshire.

I like the fact we have no sales tax and no income tax. It is beautiful here, especially in the fall. Snow can be a good and a bad. We have cities, towns, farms, urban areas. You can go to the mountains and to the beach in one day.

I don't like the humidity in the summer, the bugs, and how far we are from horsie events!

What area in the north east are you talking about? I'm in southern NJ. It's getting very built up quickly. As far as jobs and opportunities go it's an excellent place for that, but if you're looking for farm land, horse property, be ready to pay out the wazoo for it. Good thing we bought our farm 17 years ago as the value of property in this state has sky rocketed....it's unbelievable.

If you like the night life...well this is the place to be. There's always something to do and open at night into the wee hours of the morning and 24 hours even. From Casinos, to stores, to the shore night life...etc....it's all there if you're into that. It's a very pretty state...alot of people think city, city city...but are amazed when they come here and find that the landscape is very beautiful. Beautiful forests, pinelands, swamplands. Rolling hills when you get up north.

We are very sad to see alof of our farmlands and open spaces being swallowed up by new construction, and altho I hear that's everywhere, this state being as small as it is you feel it more.

Oh.....the summers for the last few years have been brutal. Very high humidity. The winters can get pretty dreary hitting deep freezes for months on end. Altho the last 2 years were pretty mild in the winter.

I hope that helps a bit.

Oh one thing I forgot to mention. One thing I really like about this state is the history...the victorian, rev war and civil war history and old houses. Always something to do and see within driving distance.

Wow, the no state income tax would be great. Although, our state income state isn't too bad, every little bit helps.

I live in Maine and have all my life. I enjoy summer when it's not too hot and humid, fall is gorgeous and I love watching the new green come back in the spring. I'm getting older and am beginning to resent winter being 6 months out of the year.

I like the fact that there are no poisonous snakes or spiders here.

We rarely have earthquakes and tornados-- but last week we had both!!!

We can be hit with a hurricane in the fall but it's not usual. Nor'easters are like hurricanes for us in the winter. They are more common and we weather them with stoic pride.

Even though I dislike the cold here in winter, Maine people make the most of it. You can ski, snowshoe, snowmobile, ice skate, go sledding-- just about anywhere. It's big business up here and businesses do well when it snows a lot.

In the warmer months vacations are centered around the water-- lots of lakes and rivers. Then there is the ocean and the miles and miles of coast. We don't have sharks and jellyfish up here because the water is just too dang cold! lol

I like the mountains and hills very much. When I went to Florida I felt unprotected with the wide open horizon.

One problem with Maine is that it is made up mostly of white people. We're not very diverse here. We welcome diversity, don't get me wrong. But don't criticise me if the first adjective I give for a person I've seen, that is other than caucasian, is the color of his/her skin. It's just a fact of life here and that doesn't mean I'm prejudiced.

In Maine, if you weren't born here, you're just visiting. No matter how long you've lived here! lol My sister has lived in NH for almost 20 years, but it still feels like she's just visiting there. Our neighbors were from Massachussetts and had been there for 10 years, but they were still "new."

The southern part of the state is more populated and you're going to feel more comfortable there if you like culture and night life. If you like wildlife and pine trees then you'll be happy just about anywhere here!! In the northern part of the state you have to be prepared to travel long distances to get to just about anything.

There... that should give you an idea of northern New England!
