AMHR had a committee that looked in great depth at the various facilities around the country when it became apparent that the facilities in Columbia were woefully inadequate in MANY ways.

They looked at location, (wanting it to be as central as possible so that it would be fair to the greatest number of people.

They looked at stalling availability.

They looked at show arena and warm up arenas.

They looked at parking, and they looked at vendor space.

They looked at cost.

They looked at booking dates that were available.

In ALL areas the Tulsa facility ranked the best. Remember...the AMHR Nationals runs 10 days and some of the horses roll in a day or two ahead of that. Any facility that is worth its weight in salt would be VERY difficult to get on an "every few years" basis for a 10 plus day period of time. If we gave up Tulsa to go to some other location (which very likely does NOT have enough permanent stalls!!) chances are we could not get back in to Tulsa again, at least not during a time that we would like.
