I thought this would be fun.

Here is little Chantilly as a foal 6 years ago, she was grulla

Now here she is this year at 6 years old

Jessica she was a pretty foal and is a pretty mare, BUT she looks as if she was a Black foal and is now a Black mare- I would have expected her to grow up to be exactly the colour she is!!!

I stand corrected. I have posted those foal pictures several times before and I was never told she was a black, thank you for clearing that up. Could she be smokey because her dad is Buckskin which gives the cream gene?

YES....with a Buckskin sire, it is VERY possible that she is a Smokey Black. Since she has diluted black appearance (dark brown) I highly suspect that she is.
